Surat Airport,Mumbai Surat Flight,Surat Delhi Flight
People of Surat were long awaiting for their Surat Airport. And May 6,2007 is a memorable day for Surati;s when they saw their dream of getting air connectivity become a reality. But not even a year after the air services started, uncertainties are looming large over Surat's connectivity with more destinations. Currently, Indian Airlines is operating only between Surat and Delhi and its demand to cover Mumbaiand Bhavnagar is yet to go a clearance from the director- general of civil aviation.Further, the Surat-Delhi connectivity which was seven days a week was reduced to four days .Recently ,even Kingfisher shut its servies between Surat and Jaipur after it was launched in November last year. When Indian curtailed its operations from seven days to four days its officials cited shortage of aircrafts as the alibi. According them, the aircraft used for Surat was required elsewhere due to Hoj pilgrimage but surprisingly, the despite Huj getting over in December last year."The decision to resume the flight services for seven days a week as before is still pending ." said K Bharatia senior official at Mumbai.Similarly Kingfisher Airlines discontinued its Surat.Ahmedbad-Jaipur flight due to some 'operational' reasons. " It's true that we have some operational problems that have forced us to take this decision. We are not sure when we will start the Jaipur flight again ." said an official at Kingfisher Airlines. Sources, however said that the chance of resuming the service between Surat and Jaipur before the next three months seemed dim. Other players too are in no mood to take such any decision in a hurry.” Passenger flow is our main concern since we are hereto do business. But we don't want to take a hasty decision of starting services in Surat alone. When it begins, we would like to have full connectivity with the cities like Mumbai,Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Jaipur. At the moment there are no such plans," said Vinod Kumar ,head sales and marketing of MDLR Airlines.
