Surat lies on to the north of Mumbai and is also called the textile town of India. Almost 95% of the world’s diamond polishing and cutting business is conducted in this port town. Apart from textiles and diamonds and scores of other flourishing industries, there are also numerous sites and places to visit in this interesting trading town. Since ancient times, traders from across the world came here in search of good quality silks, textiles, spices and exquisite diamond cutting. Surat has earned the very enviable position of being one of the world’s “fastest growing” trade centers. Although the climate of Surat is mild yet the best time to visit is between October and March.
